Anthem Adapts Controversial ED Policy

Anthem’s controversial ED policy has seen some changes after facing pushback from Senators, healthcare providers, and patients.

“Some of those exceptions include when a patient is directed by a healthcare provider to go to the ER; the patient is under 15 years old; the patient is traveling out of state; or the patient received any kind of surgery, IV fluids or IV medications, or an MRI or CT scan.”

Experts say the changes don’t seem to make much of an impact, and advocates in the states of Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, Missouri, New Hampshire, and Ohio will continue to push back against this policy.
