Bipartisan Health Bill Sees Uncertain Fate

President Donald Trump asked Senate HELP Chairman Lamar Alexander (R-TN) to work with his Ranking Member Patty Murray (D-WA) on a short-term health bill. This week, it was announced that the HELP Committee leaders struck a deal and would be releasing the text of a bipartisan bill. Though the President asked Senator Alexander to work with Senator Murray, it is unclear if the President will be supporting the bill. Early statements from both Democratic and Republican Senators showed a positive response to this legislation, but a lack of support from the President or House Majority Leader Paul Ryan could kill the bill entirely.
