Medicare Extenders Package Delayed in House

Medicare Extenders Package Delayed in House

Modern Healthcare reports the House Ways and Means Committee is far from an agreement on the Medicare extenders package they once hoped to pass before the Thanksgiving holiday. The current proposal would be detrimental to rural health providers.

“Rural hospitals are worried Congress’ delay in funding now-expired Medicare extenders will throw them into more financial instability as the providers face a continuing crisis of closures.”

The CAH Coalition, along with 124 Critical Access Hospitals, sent a letter to Congress urging them to oppose any changes to CAH swing-bed reimbursement rates. The Coalition continues to monitor Ways and Means activity on this legislation. See the Coalition’s letter and more on the House Ways and Means Committee proposed changes to CAH reimbursements here.
