Rural Hospitals to Receive Approximately $90,000 Per Hospital to Support COVID-19 Activities SHIP Grants Through HRSA

The CARES Act included $150 million for rural hospitals – including CAHs – to support COVID-19 related activities. These funds will be awarded to states through the Small Rural Hospital Improvement Program (SHIP) grant mechanism, through the Health Resources and Services Administration’s (HRSA) Office of Rural Health Policy.  HRSA anticipates the award amounts to be approximately $90,000 per hospital in each state, according to a HRSA email to program participants.  This is in addition to funding available through other COVID-19 programs, such as the one announced for financial relief for Medicare providers.
