Rural Americans Skipping Out on Medical Care

More than a third of rural Americans have reported skipping needed care because of costs, this is more than twice the rate of rural residents in six other countries reviewed. According to analysis by the Commonwealth Fund, of the 11 high-income countries studied, the U.S. outranks all of them in the percentage of rural adults who skip medical care because they cannot afford it. Telehealth increased primary care access, and the recruitment of health workers to undeserved areas are some strategies other countries have employed to even out the disparity.
